Frequently Asked Questions Atrogel Arnica Gel
What is Atrogel? Atrogel Arnica Gel is a traditional herbal medicinal product for use in the symptomatic relief of muscular aches, pains and stiffness, sprains and bruises and swelling after injury, exclusively based upon long-standing use as a traditional remedy.
It contains the extract of freshly harvested Arnica montana. Always read the leaflet
Can I use Atrogel for bruising? One of the most common uses of Arnica extracts is indeed for bruising.
So, what other conditions can I use it for? Atrogel can be used whenever you require topical pain relief to be applied immediately to muscular aches and pains. The most common of these conditions include a stiff neck and painful shoulders, stiffness in the knees or elbows.
Can Atrogel be used for sports injuries? Yes, it can be used for muscular strains, sprains and swelling after injury.
Is there anyone who can’t use Atrogel? Arnica extracts are not recommended for anyone allergic to Arnica or other members of the daisy family [Asteraceae (Compositae)], or one of the other ingredients.
Can I use it during pregnancy? Atrogel may be used during pregnancy under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It can also be used whilst breastfeeding.
Can it be used for children (12 years and under)? Yes it can.
How should I use it? Atrogel is for external application. For adults, apply between 2 and 10 cm of gel gently to the affected area 2 to 4 times daily. Apply in a similar way for children and the elderly.
Are there any special precautions I should take? Do not use on broken or irritated skin and avoid contact with the eyes, nose , mouth or other sensitive areas of the body. Discontinue use if your skin becomes red, irritated or dry. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
If the condition worsens, or if symptoms persist for more than two weeks, or if adverse events not mentioned in the package leaflet occur, consult a healthcare practitioner.
Can I use Atrogel with my other prescribed medication? Yes, it can be used with prescribed medication.
Can it be used by vegetarians and vegans? Atrogel contains no animal ingredients and is suitable for use by vegetarians and vegans.
Why is it a yellow colour – are gels not supposed to be clear Atrogel is made from extracts of the yellow Arnica montana flower and contains approximately 50% by weight of the tincture. Compounds found in the tincture, known as sesquiterpene lactones, impart a yellow coloration to the gel.
Does it have a heating effect? On the contrary, Atrogel has a slight cooling effect.
