Jan de Vries - World Renowned Naturopath
Jan de Vries has been synonymous with expert
complementary healthcare for over 40 years both in the UK and in other
parts of the world.
A native of Holland, in 1959 Jan met the famous Swiss naturopath,
Alfred Vogel, the man who was to have a profound influence on him.
Alfred Vogel introduced Jan to what is now referred to as 'complementary medicine'. Jan was so impressed by this man and his
breadth of knowledge of the natural lifestyle that he left pharmacy to
study first homoeopathy, then later on naturopathy and acupuncture.
In 1960, Jan de Vries and Alfred Vogel started the very first naturopathic clinic in Holland.
In 1970, Jan set up his first UK clinic in Troon on the west coast of
Scotland where he still practices today at Auchenkyle. Jan now has a
total of four complementary healthcare clinics, three affiliated
clinics plus a number of health and diet shops across Britain and
Ireland which he visits regularly to consult with patients.
Jan has written 40 books on a host of health problems and he
contributes advice columns and features to many magazines and
newspapers. He also broadcasts regularly and is in constant demand as a
popular and insightful lecturer.
In 2002 Jan de Vries was appointed Honorary Professor of Complementary
Medicine at Edinburgh's Queen Margaret University College.
