Teufen named a Swiss Nature Park

Since 2004 the A.Vogel herb and show garden in Teufen, in the canton of Appenzell, has been seen as an “ecological island” which “provides a valuable contribution to the diversity of flora and fauna” and “extends to the surrounding areas”.

Following recognition as “Appenzell Garden 2006”, the garden was recently named as a “Swiss Nature Park”. This designation was awarded by the Institute of Nature and Business following a visionary idea by biologist Reto Locher.   The aim is to create 1000 nature parks in Switzerland for the welfare of both people and nature. All those who apply for the award must fulfil the following criteria: at least 30% of the surrounding area must be semi natural and stocked with native plants and include ponds, free flowing streams, hedges or dry meadows.

A.Vogel Webcams have been set up to watch over our plants and herbs.

One provides a view of the A.Vogel herbal show garden in Teufen in the Appenzell region of Switzerland, where Alfred Vogel had his clinic.

The other two watch over us as we grow and harvest our plants from the fields in Roggwil in the canton of Thurgau.
