Ginkgo - Care and Cultivation The
Ginkgo tree originated so long ago that there were no insects to carry
pollen from the male tree to the female. So the female boasts two
little buds that ooze a sap-like liquid designed to catch the pollen
blowing on the air from the nearby male tree. So Ginkgo pollination
occurred millions of years ago and so it occurs today. Our Ginkgo leaves are collected from cultivated trees, grown in 2 to 3 metre high hedges.
Organic growing is undertaken according to EC directive 2091/91 - without artificial fertilizer and without pesticides.
Harvesting between August and October takes place over 2
days. The freshly harvested leaves are taken directly to a cooling chamber
with a controlled temperature of 4°C, to begin the production process.
