4 things your gut needs that I BET you aren't giving it
Trust me, as a nutritionist, I’ve heard all the excuses, but some of these simple tips can actually be the most effective at changing the course of your gut health:
Taking enough time to chew
Don’t just worry about your teeth looking good, these serve an important purpose! The provide mechanical breakdown, thereby, increasing the surface area of the food you eat effectively, which in turn, gets digestive enzymes such as salivary amylase doing the hard work as EARLY as the mouth - so make sure it happens! Chew at least 20 times per mouthful. Always.
Consuming enough water
Guys, I mean REAL water. Limit the flavourings. Teas and coffees don’t count as part of your BASIC water needs. Then, when it comes to electrolytes? This is more individual. Maybe not a must with every drink. But water most certainly is the priority and one area to get right in the first instance.
30 different plants per week
30 plants includes fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices – so it may not be as hard to achieve as it first seems. Mix it up a bit and stop eating the same things every day, your gut needs variety as this DIRECTLY translates into a wider variety of gut bacteria which protects us against ill-health.
A daily dose of POSTbiotics
Right, I admit, this point may be lesser known, but actually… not if you’ve been listening to me for the past month! So, no excuses, give me a follow, tune in, add a daily postbiotic like Molkosan and get your gut sorted with the help of my balanced tips.
