Gut health - why do we need to take it seriously?

@emmatalksnutrition

GUT HEALTH ? There genuinely isn’t an area of health I’m more passionate, about because the health of your gut literally translates into so many areas of our physical and mental health ?‍?‍?‍? From metabolism and weight loss, immunity, how we think, sleep, feel… the list is endless. Plus, what we eat, how we eat and we how live our lives can totally influence it (for the better too, if we just know how to take the right steps ??) Follow me for more gut health topics coming up soon ✨

Research shows that our gut bacteria has some very direct links to many areas of our physical and mental health, including:

  • Mental health
  • body weight
  • skin health and the likelihood of flare ups of skin conditions
  • blood sugar balance & risk of type II diabetes
  • children’s health including immune health
  • digestive health and the likelihood of symptoms
  • liver health (a whole digestive and metabolic world of it's own)
  • food allergies (linked to digestion)
  • inflammation (precursor to so many disease states)
  • blood pressure
  • antibiotic resistance (the future us will thank us for taking this one seriously!).

One of my aims as a nutritionist is to start helping people to realise the potential of supporting your gut health, in order to influence your wider health.
