How to Make Fibre Fun (Whilst Supporting Your Family’s Gut Health) ?? - From a Nutritionist Mummy My top tips for fuelling your family with fibre (the best way to support gut health and encourage a diverse microbiota) without them even noticing, are as follows! Get the full family involved, try new things, keep up continual exposure to new foods so it’s not too new, scary, or a chore for them – even if they don’t eat it, get them involved watching or helping you eat it – we all know the feeling of them wanting to eat from your plate, right? ? Making the foods tasty helps, of course, so try out new combinations in the kitchen, and get organised - planning meals or recipes ahead of time. Get outside as much as possible - this also supports their microbiome ✨ But ultimately, we still want it to be simple, not overthinking it too much (if in doubt, just try and get more fresh ingredients in your shopping basket each week and don’t let anything go to waste). The end goal is to keep up having a variety of fibre injected into your lifestyle, rather than a huge, foreign effort. A total way of life, with your family’s gut health reaping all the benefits ? P.S. I totally appreciate kids have their own individual needs and challenges, but I hope I can help inspire people to try even just one tiny new routine around trying new sources of fibre and ultimately, supporting gut health x

How to Make Fibre Fun (Whilst Supporting Your Family’s Gut Health)

Fibre might not sound like the most exciting topic in the world, but it truly is one of the best ways to support your family’s gut health and encourage a diverse microbiota. And the best part? You can make it fun — and your family might not even notice they’re eating more of it!

Get Everyone Involved

One of the simplest ways to make healthy eating stick is to get the whole family involved. Encourage your little ones to try new things and keep introducing them to a variety of foods. The more often they see something, the less “new” or scary it feels. Even if they don’t eat it right away, invite them to help you prepare it or simply watch you enjoy it — we all know that magical moment when they suddenly want a bite of whatever’s on your plate!

Keep It Tasty and Organised

Let’s be honest, taste matters — especially when you’re feeding kids. Experiment with new flavour combinations in the kitchen and plan ahead where you can. Meal planning or prepping a few easy recipes makes it much easier to stay on track during a busy week.

And don’t forget: getting outside as often as possible also supports your family’s microbiome. Fresh air, muddy hands, and time in nature all play a role in building strong, diverse gut health ✨

Keep It Simple

At the end of the day, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Try not to overthink it. If in doubt, just aim to get more fresh ingredients into your shopping basket each week — and make sure nothing goes to waste. It’s all about small, consistent steps.

The goal is to naturally weave a variety of fibre-rich foods into your everyday lifestyle, rather than turning it into a big project. Over time, these little changes become second nature — and your family’s gut health will thank you for it.

A Little Note from Me

I completely understand that every child (and every family!) has their own unique needs and challenges. My hope is simply to inspire you to try one tiny new routine — maybe adding a new source of fibre to your weekly meals — and take that first step towards supporting your family’s gut health.

Here’s to making fibre fun, delicious, and part of everyday family life! x
