Nutrition myths debunked - Don't demonise fats

Nutrition myth debunked: Don’t demonise fats ???? Fats are such a beneficial macronutrient, they’ve been wrongly demonised in research – where conflicting factors may have been present (correlation vs causation), plus, we now know that not all fats are created equal – another simplification which has been catastrophic in how our nations’ health has progressed over the last 50 years or so. I bang this drum often – but there are only 3 macronutrients, if we reduce fats, what are we increasing? Carbs, most likely, and poor quality ones at that, in most cases. Fats help to keep us fuller for longer, keep our blood sugar stable, and are the building blocks of physical and chemical structures throughout our bodies. They also aid in the delivery of so many nutrients, which is still not often the priority for people (let’s do more seeking of nutrients rather than worrying about restricting calories). If anyone has any specific questions please do shout as there are lots of research references out there if people know where to look ?✨

We are we scared of fats?

Fats are such a beneficial macronutrient, they’ve been wrongly demonized in research – where conflicting factors may have been present (correlation vs causation), plus, we now know that not all fats are created equal – another simplification which has been catastrophic in how our nations’ health has progressed over the last 50 years or so.

But what happens if we lose fats? Are we missing out?

I bang this drum often – but there are only 3 macronutrients, if we reduce fats, what are we increasing? Carbs, most likely, and poor quality ones at that, in most cases. Fats help to keep us fuller for longer, keep our blood sugar stable, and are the building blocks of physical and chemical structures throughout our bodies. They also aid in the delivery of so many nutrients, which is still not often the priority for people (let’s do more seeking of nutrients rather than worrying about restricting calories).
