Did you know?
Peanut butter is a great food to fuel up on before a 5K or 10K because of its low GI, high carbohydrate and high protein content.
What to eat before a 5K or 10KIf we stick to the same exercise routine week after week, the body gets used to doing those activities and we are less likely to see improvements to our fitness. This may be what's hindering your fitness gains.
For overall health, it is also a good idea to practise a variety of activities. This would ideally be some strength exercises alongside activities that get the heart beating a little bit faster. To achieve this, you could simply up the speed of your walks or, if possible, try something a little bit different. Perhaps a cycle or online exercise class - whatever suits your likes and abilities.
Naturally, it is harder to lose weight as we get older so I wouldn't get too caught up in this. Just focus on eating a healthy varied diet, and maintain regular exercise, as you are already doing.
Low energy levels can be down to various factors but in general I recommend trying the following:
- Up your water intake
- Increase your nutrient intake through fresh foods, particularly magnesium
- Try Balance Mineral Drink (it contains magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium and vitamin D)
I hope this helps but if you have any other questions, do get in touch.
