What you drink is actually equally important – dehydration is a prime contributor to constipation.
Drink at least 1.5 litres of still, plain water daily, at least 20 minutes away from food, and a good quality prune juice may also be an option to supplement your diet with.
When it comes to food, it’s best to eat warm, cooked vegetables, e.g. in soups and stews. Swap white rice to short grain brown rice, eat wholemeal bread and pasta instead of white, and snack on dried fruit instead of sugary sweets and biscuits.
