Check nowIt is important to be aware that certain foods and drinks could exacerbate symptoms of an enlarged prostate, so I am glad you have asked this question. The following are just a few that things that can cause problems:
• Caffeine – this is a diuretic which can irritate the bladder and increase the urge to urinate
• Alcohol – this is pro-inflammatory. It increases the urge to urinate, relaxes the muscles and can even contribute to dehydration
• Sugary foods – these are pro-inflammatory
• Spice – this may irritate the bladder and prostate.
You could try cutting down your intake of these foods and drinks to see if it improves your symptoms.
I would also say to avoid ready-meals as much as possible because they offer far less nutritionally than a meal cooked from scratch. I appreciate that this can be a bit time-consuming so you could try cooking in batches and then freezing each portion. That way you've got a supply of meals in the freezer and all you have to do is defrost them.
