Yes, a head cold can lead to dizziness.
The reason is that the infection and inflammation leads to an increase in the amount of mucus produced by the upper nasal passages.
This can then impede the drainage of a structure known as the Eustachian tube which links the middle ear to the back of the throat.
The purpose of this tube is to control the air pressure in the ear, allowing the ear to function normally.
Dizziness can be one symptom of a blocked Eustachian tube. Other symptoms include a feeling that the ear is ‘blocked’ or temporary deafness.
