Spotting such as this is a common symptom on the approach to the menopause and may happen for quite a while before your periods stop for good.
Sometimes the spotting can change into an extra period; this too is common, but if this does continue it is best to get it checked by your doctor as heavy or frequent periods can cause anaemia which in turn can cause fatigue, low mood, poor sleep etc.
