I appeared to stop my periods at least 3 years ago. During this 3 year period, I had the odd show but nothing to write home about. Just before Christmas, I had a full period which lasted 7 days and was similar to the normal periods that I had years ago. I am 49 years old and in the past week I have noticed that I'm getting niggling pains in my lower body, on my right hand side. I can't be pregnant? Or, is there a possiblity?

You are usually considered through the menopause after not having had any periods for 2 years so it is very unlikely to get pregnant after that.

However, it is best to get this checked out by your doctor and they can look into it for you.
