Missing periods are usually one of the first signs of the approach to the menopause.
You may find that you miss a couple of periods, then they come back for a while, then stop again and so on. This can continue for quite a while before they finally stop.
The higher the level of FSH usually indicates how far along the menopause you are and also the less likelihood of pregnancy.
But if you are still worried do go back to your doctor and ask them to check again for you.
