My mum is 53 years old and she is suffering from a lot of blood loss from what she claims is the menopause. The urgent care line suggested that she go to an emergency room, however, my mum aledges that her flow has slowed down a lot. Should I be really concerned? It started on Wednesday night and today is Friday.
Although heavy/prolonged bleeding is common on the approach to the menopause, this kind of bleeding really needs medical attention.
Even if it has slowed down, your mum really needs to go and see her doctor. Prolonged bleeding can cause fatigue, low mood, and poor sleep so it is important to get it treated as soon as possible.
