My periods are extremely heavy - so heavy that I have to sit on the loo for about ten minutes each time because blood is running out of me like a tap. Is this normal?

This is a common scenario on the approach to the menopause, and can continue for some time.

However, heavy periods like you have described are not good for you and can cause anaemia, which in turn can cause the fatigue and dizziness, plus low mood, poor sleep etc.

It is important that you see your doctor about this.

Some doctors do just say that it is OK but don't be fobbed off! Make sure that they offer some form of support and treatment for you.
