This is something many women experience - either a period after nothing for varying amounts of time (even up to 2 years, amazingly), or something that feels like a period but doesn't come to anything in the way of bleeding. This can be caused by a 'last fling' on the part of your hormones, or something like starting a new relationship or being under a lot of stress.
If it continues to happen then it is best to check with the doctor, but the chances are you'll not get any more. This is a good time to support your health generally by getting plenty of rest, eating well (lots of veg, no caffeine, dried fruit and nuts instead of sugary or salty snacks), and maybe taking a magnesium supplement to reduce cramping. If you think that stress may be playing a role then check out a herbal remedy such as Stress Relief Daytime
