Although prolonged periods are quite common in the Peri-menopause, they are not good for you and can cause fatigue, low mood and sleep problems so I am glad to hear that you are seeing your doctor about this.
The herb Agnus castus is often used for heavy/prolonged periods so it may be worth trying for a couple of months if the doctor doesn't suggest anything.
However, if this does continue you must get them to look into it further for you, don't be fobbed off as in being told it's OK! We do get a lot of women who have been bleeding for months and their doctor is unwilling to help!
Acupuncture can often be really good for balancing the hormones at the start of the menopause so it is worth looking into as well.
