You are usually considered through the menopause after not having had any periods for 2 years, and for the majority of women who have not had a period in a year it is more than likely that they have stopped for good.
But, there is a small number of women who go for a year or more without any periods only to find the suddenly get one - this is usually just a 'last fling' by the hormones before they settle down!
