My strange perimenopause symptoms

Have you had any strange perimenopause symptoms?
The three of any significance that have bothered me are:

  • Itchy ears
  • Post-nasal drip
  • TMJ issues (jaw pain)

I occasionally get itchy ears, which are thankfully ignorable, but can still be annoying at times. Itchiness in various parts of the body is quite common during perimenopause and menopause, and it can range in intensity. Thankfully, for me, it’s an odd symptom but not a particularly severe one.

Then I've had a nasal drip, which is less dignified but also fairly easy to treat. Histamine levels can get a bit wobbly during perimenopause, making you more prone to allergies or allergic rhinitis. I'm treating it sensibly with things like nettle (drops), vitamin C, and luffa. I find the herb Plantago really good if I get stuffed up.

The other thing that's been bothering me more, and it's a bit more annoying, is TMJ issues.
I've had a lot of jaw muscle tension, and my jaw sometimes locks up. I'm having to go to a physiotherapist to help sort this one out. I'm doing my jaw exercises, drinking water, relaxing my jaw, and taking magnesium. So, I'm doing all the sensible things, working my way through that.

Has anyone else had TMJ issues or other strange perimenopause symptoms? We'd love to know whether you’ve found strategies, have funny stories, or anything else—just share in the comments.
