I am fast approaching 50 and I have started having periods 15/16 days apart. Normally, I have periods about 30 days apart. They are no more heavier than usual, and they last about 5 days. Could this be due to the start of the menopause? I have no other symptoms.
This is a common scenario on the approach to the menopause and you are in the average age range, 45-55, so it is possible you are starting the approach.
However, for some women this can continue for a good while and frequent/heavy periods are not good for you. Over time this can cause anaemia which in turn can cause fatigue, low mood, poor sleep etc.
Some women find the herb Agnus castus helpful for this as it is traditionally used to help restore a proper monthly cycle.
