Read all Questions & Answers

My wife is 48. She went for five months without a period, and, has now gone for five weeks bleeding heavily. She say its not like a normal period, she thinks its just bloodloss. Is this normal?

This is a common scenario on the approach to the menopause, however, prolonged or heavy bleeding is not good for her and may cause anaemia which in turn can cause fatigue, low mood and sleep problems, so it is important that she sees her doctor.

They should be able to give her something to help with this.
