I am 47. First of all I did not have a period for 3 months, then became regular again, but now in the last 6 weeks I have had a period every 2 weeks. Could this be the start of the menopause? I have no sweats.

This is quite common; your hormones will still be continuing their monthly cycle but maybe just not high enough to trigger a period. Many women find the herb Agnus castus beneficial at this time, as long as you are not on any hormonal contraceptive. A magnesium supplement may help with the pain as well. Take this on a daily basis, either a tablet or as a liquid. If the pain does not subside then do go and see your doctor.
