I have very heavy flooding that lasts a day then goes away to nothing at all then starts flooding again. Is this a normal sign of the menopause? And what can I do about it, as I could be anywhere when it happens. I’m 51 years old – help!

Many women find the herb Agnus castus helpful at this time, as it is traditionally used for controlling symptoms such as flooding. You can only take it if you are not on any hormonal contraception, though. I would also see your doctor just to make sure there is no underlying cause for this as well. Frequent flooding can cause anaemia (low iron levels), so it is a good idea to ask your doctor for an iron test as low iron can end up causing fatigue.
