background

I am 45 years old. I still got my periods every month but in the last three years in the summer I get extremely hot. I can’t cope with the heat - it seems like I am constantly sweating. I have to say we have high humidity levels and very high temperatures here, but I wanted to know if this was a sign of menopause or peri menopause and when you start getting symptoms how long until your period stops?

You won’t get the menopause the minute you turn 50! The average starting age is actually between 45 and 55 and it can often depend on a number of factors including hereditary, weight and health, however every single woman will have an individual menopause.
