What is substance related disorder?

A substance related disorder generally refers to an addiction, usually to alcohol or drugs.

In these situations people are using the substance to try and alleviate challenging states of mind or difficult feelings.

However, rather than help, over time a dependency on the substance can develop and lead to more complicated problems.
