I had a fall last March, injuring my neck and shoulders causing soft tissue damage. I have visited the hospital and have seen many doctors since my fall and have been told I have a diffuse lipoma, which is very painful. I have had acupuncture and I am currently seeing a physiotherapist at the moment. Could you tell me is this going to get any better, as it is nearly one year since I had this fall.

As you may know, a lipoma is a type of benign tumour composed of fatty tissue.

However, this fat is not structural nor can it be metabolised (broken down) and so it will ultimately need to be removed via surgery if it continues to spread and cause pain.

After a year, it is perhaps time to ask your doctor to move in this direction so that you can have the cause of the pain taken away.

Best wishes
