Chocolate Orange Energy Balls (Vegan & GF)

We’re all guilty of craving a sweet treat now and again, but with my Chocolate Orange Energy Balls you’ll no longer have to feel guilty! Superfood Medjool dates provides all the sweetness you need, with the added bonus of all the other super nutritious ingredients in there too.

Ingredients

Chocolate Orange Energy Balls (Vegan & GF)

  • 150g Medjool dates
  • Juice and zest of one orange
  • 1 tbsp pea / soy / hemp protein
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut   
  • 1 tsp-1 tbsp agave syrup (optional, add to taste)

How to make Chocolate Orange Energy Balls (Vegan & GF)

1. Blitz together the dates, orange zest and juice, protein powder, cocoa powder, coconut oil and agave syrup in a food processor.

2. Roll into small individual balls (should make up around 12) and roll in the desiccated coconut as a nice finishing touch.

3. Keep chilled in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

This recipe is full of goodness

Medjool dates are extremely nutritious and boast a good fibre content as well as B vitamins and magnesium. Coconut oil is rich in medium chain triglycerides which are a healthy type of fat used more instantly for energy. Then there’s the orange juice which is rich in vitamin C – an important antioxidant.
