The problem here is that your oestrogen levels fell dramatically with the hysterectomy and were propped up by the HRT. Every time that you came off the HRT they fell again and this is what causes the awful flushes. Obviously you have to come off and stay off at some point, but it might be worth asking your doctor if they would put you back on a low dose at least and then reduce it very gradually, say over a 6 month period, so that your body has time to adjust to the lower levels without so much horror.
You can take soya isoflavones, which gives you a natural oestrogen substitute, but it isn't as strong as HRT so although it may lessen the flushes it's unlikely to stop them altogether.
You can team it up with a sage extract to get more effect - take the tablet with your evening meal to get most protection at night. It will take about 2-4 weeks to see an effect from this combination.
