I am 54 years old and I have lost my monthly cycle twice in the last two years. Last year, I lost it for six months and then again from December to july, and then today it arrives. Surely this should be the last one?

You'd think it could just stop and be done with, wouldn't you?

As it is, many women tell us that they have a random period appearing anytime over 1-3 years after their last bleed. It's usually just one and it's usually light, but it's annoying because you never know when it's coming!

However, the longer it is since the last one, the nearer you are to the end.
