Changing periods are often one of the first signs that you are approaching the menopause.
Periods at this point can vary between heavy and light, on time, late, early, missing, long, short, or in any combination! For some women this scenario can go on for some time before their periods stop for good.
This is a natural process and normally nothing to worry about and the fact that your doctor is keeping an eye on things is great. So do stop worrying and remember that worry can actually make symptoms worse as well
