For the last 2 years I have came close to going 12 months without a period. However, about a week or so from making it a full year, my period returns. Is this normal and how long can it go on for?

This is quite common and some women do find that they go for a long time without a period then they get one or two, and then they stop again and so on.

This can last for several years for some women, but it is very difficult to say on an individual level whether this will continue a bit longer for you.
