Even though your periods may have stopped, there is still a hormonal cycle, not high enough to trigger a bleed but still high enough to give PMT-like symptoms so what you are experiencing is very common on the approach to the menopause.
However, it is important that you get this checked by your doctor as well. It is the doctor's job to answer your health questions or worries so don't feel that you are wasting their time!
You can ask your doctor to test your hormone levels to confirm if you are going through the menopause.
