I am 54 years old and I've not had a period for 10 months. I thought that I was over the menopause but now I have this horrendous period. I can't be away from the loo for more than 20 minutes. Is this normal?

This does occasionally happen but you need medication immediately to stop what is in effect a haemorrhage.

Please get in touch with your doctor immediately, and if they can't see you today then go to A&E - you need a progesterone-based medication to stop the bleed.
