Yes, this is very common.
As you approach the menopause, your period cycle can change i.e. they can get shorter or longer, closer together or further apart, but also the consistency, colour, and smell can change as well.
However, it is a good idea to get this checked out by your doctor just in case there is a low grade infection present which may need treating.
