Changing periods are often one of the first signs that you are approaching the menopause. However, periods at this point can vary between heavy and light, on time, late, early, missing, long or short and in any combination.
You may start with periods getting closer together then after a while the could get further apart or it may happen the other way round!
Some women find that they completely miss a period or two, then get them back, then miss again and so on for a while.
As you can see there are lots of variations and, unfortunately it is impossible to tell which way each woman will will go until it happens!
