Since you mention both your muscles AND your joints being painful, I would suggest you look a little deeper into a condition known as fibromyalgia. This affects both the muscles and the more fibrous tendons and ligaments associated with the bones and joints. You haven't mentioned other symptoms but if sleep is poor, you experience headaches or IBS, fibromyalgia might be a good place to start.
In the meantime, do consider some Atrogel® to be applied externally and some Atrosan® tablets. They are both licensed for muscular and joint aches and pains and have no interactions with any medicines you might be taking.
From another angle, either Valerian or the mineral magnesium can help relax muscles.
