So far this month I have had two periods, one really heavy with clots at the end of the period and another which started last night with cramps. Many people have told me to get a certain coil fitted would that be an option? I am due to see GP thursday.

This is a common scenario on the approach to the menopause and can continue for some time before your periods finally stop. However, frequent/heavy periods are not good for you and can cause anaemia which in turn can cause fatigue, low mood, poor sleep etc so if this continues it is best to see your doctor.

Some women find the herb Agnus castus helpful for this, as it is traditionally used to help restore a proper monthly cycle.

However if the periods are coming really thick and fast then the natural option may not be strong enough or work quickly enough, so medication can be the best initial option.

It doesn't have to be the coil - you can just take the mini pill for a similar effect without anyone guddling around in your insides! Also, if it doesn't suit you it's easy to stop, which isn't the case with the coil.
