Keep hayfever in check with Pollinosan

Find out how to ease your hayfever symptoms using this herbal remedy

All about hayfever

Hayfever is a very common condition - it affects 40% of children and around 10-30% of all adults in the UK.1 Symptoms occur when the immune system overreacts to contact with tree, weed or grass pollen. Instead of ignoring these things as would normally be the case, the immune system initiates a response to kill them, as it would do with a cold virus for example, or bacteria.

This response involves releasing a chemical called histamine which, in excess, can lead to a host of unpleasant symptoms:

It is not exactly clear what causes people to develop hayfever however, as nearly 70% of our immune cells are situated in the gut, poor digestion could have an impact. Research also suggests that nowadays children are not exposed to as many germs as they would have been in the past meaning their immune systems do not get the opportunity to “toughen up”, if so to speak. As a result of this there may be more chance they will react to harmless substances such as pollen.2

What is Pollinosan?

As a homeopathic medicinal product, A.Vogel’s Pollinosan Hayfever Tablets are made on the belief that very small quantities of certain plants and minerals can help trigger the body’s natural healing process and dampen inflammatory processes.

The tablets can be used to bring relief from a variety of hayfever symptoms, including those listed above. This means it is not necessary for people with multiple symptoms to buy multiple products thus saving both money and time.

Pollinosan is made to an original Alfred Vogel formula and contains 7 tropical herbs. One of these herbs is luffa which is naturally anti-inflammatory and has a desensitising action on the nasal membranes affected by hayfever.

My Top Tip:

Our Pollinosan Tablets can bring relief from symptoms of hayfever and allergic rhinitis such as watery eyes, sneezing and a blocked nose. The tablets can be used alongside antihistamines and have no unwanted side effects such as drowsiness.

"Always effective I use this every summer. No side effects.”"

Unique benefits of Pollinosan

Pollinosan stands apart from other hayfever treatments as it is non-drowsy meaning it will not affect your ability to use machinery or drive.

Not only can it be used by hayfever sufferers though, Pollinosan is recommended for those with allergic rhinitis too. With this condition the immune system reacts negatively to other airborne allergens such as dust mites, animal dander and mould spores.

What does the research say?

Over the course of two consecutive pollen seasons, a Dutch clinical study accessed the use of Pollinosan in 199 people suffering from dust, animal, pollen and other unknown allergies. The results showed that 56.8% of patients experienced a distinct improvement in their symptoms whilst 31.7% saw a partial improvement in symptoms.3

Although the formula for Pollinosan has changed slightly since this particular study was taken, it does still highlight the positive effects of its homeopathic approach.

How to take Pollinosan

Pollinosan is much more effective when taken over a period of time, rather than just taking the tablets when pollen counts are high. As a result, we recommend that you start taking the tablets as soon as the hayfever season begins and then continue taking them throughout the pollen-filled months.

Pollination occurs as follows:

  • Grass pollination – mid-May to July
  • Tree pollination – March to mid-May
  • Weed pollination – June to October

If you are sensitive to any of these things take 2 tablets 3 times daily before meals to keep symptoms under control. How quickly the product works varies from person to person however, generally you should see improvement within 7 days and if that is not the case then it’s best to consult a doctor or qualified health professional.

We do not recommend that you take the tablets year round – only when symptoms are more likely to emerge and only as long as they feel like they are helping symptoms. We realize however, that sometimes hayfever symptoms emerge when you least expect them; say in the middle of winter, so there are no issues with using the tablets out with the hayfever season.

Who can take Pollinosan?

Pollinosan is not contraindicated with any other hayfever treatments. This means it is fine to take it alongside conventional medications such as antihistamines but it can also be used safely alongside other herbal options such as A.Vogel Pollinosan Nasal Spray.

It should not however, be taken by anyone who is sensitive to any of its ingredients, including those with lactose or milk allergies. Also, it isn’t suitable for pregnant or breast-feeding women.

The product can be taken by anyone over the age of 12.

What are people saying?

As we’ve discussed, our Pollinosan Hayfever Tablets have a number of positive features making them stand apart from other hayfever treatments. You needn’t just take our word for it though, as customers also have lots of praise for the product too!

“These tablets control my hayfever with no negative side effects. A.Vogel is an ethical and trustworthy company.”

“I am a regular user of these for some years. They free me from the side effects of anti-histamines but get the job done.”

“Great product! One of the many things I use for hayfever which is terrible if untreated. Helps me live a normal life.”
