How great is Grumpy Old Menopause?

I have just finished reading Carol Wyer's book, 'Grumpy Old Menopause', and I haven’t laughed so much for ages. My office colleagues were convinced I was going cuckoo, as I was laughing so much I nearly fell off my chair. I was just so thankful that my phone was quiet otherwise I would not have been able to talk straight.

Laughter aside, her observations and experiences through the menopause are all common ones that I deal with on a regular basis and it is all too easy to get down and despondent so thank you, Carol, for giving me a welcome lift!

What it made me realise about the menopause

Reading through the book, I could identify with so many aspects of the menopause and it made me realise how much this time in our lives affects our day to day living and how we see the world. I found it quite therapeutic to look back and see what I have achieved since starting the menopause and I must admit I was very surprised at how much I have done and am now very proud of myself!

The menopause can be a very empowering time if we allow it to be and I do think that we all need to accept this and not fight it. I know for many women it is a time of great change both emotionally, physically and spiritually, not always positive; but the media and magazines seem to always focus on the negative and I do think this isn’t good for us as a whole. Carol’s book has brought, along with great tips and recommendations, laughter and a lighter side to it, which I think is definitely needed!
