I am 57yrs old and I went through menopause 10 yrs ago. Along with multiple PMS symptoms since my periods ended, the bloating is brutal. Through the years I've managed to bloat up to where now I look about 8mos pregnant. Seriously, I've ONLY gained weight between my upper chest and to my hips. I waddle like I'm pregnant, I have to walk like this because of where and how the weight is distributed. I've never been soooo uncomfortable in my skin. It's gross. Plus, when I walk I have a deep pain in my right upper, inner thigh, sorta like the pain you get when your getting ready to start any minute. My breasts are HUGE and it's uncomfortable even wearing a bra. I hardly eat so what's the problem?

HI Jackie Bloating like this can be caused by a number of factors such as digestive problems (very common in the menopause), PCOS, fibroids or even a pelvic prolapse so it is really important that you see your doctor. They can do a physical examination or get scans done to see exactly what is going on. Weight gain around the middle is often caused by adrenal stress so it may be an idea to see a Nutritional Therapist who can formulate a personalised treatment plan and specific diet for your situation. See www.BANT for a local practitioner.
