1. Start with Hydration

It might sound simple, but staying properly hydrated is one of the most important steps.

When your body is dehydrated, skin tends to become drier and more prone to irritation. This can make itching feel much worse. Ensuring you’re drinking enough water throughout the day can make a noticeable difference to overall skin comfort.

2. Use Nettle as a Natural Antihistamine

Nettle is a fantastic herb for calming itchiness from within.

Often found growing in your garden or surrounding countryside, stinging nettle can be used safely once it’s been prepared correctly. You can:

  • Take nettle as herbal drops (available in most health food shops), typically two to three times per day
  • Make nettle tea by steeping the leaves in hot water
  • Forage your own nettles (just be sure to wear protective gloves to avoid stings)

Once nettle is cooked or infused in hot water, it loses its sting and becomes a gentle, effective remedy. It’s widely known to be a natural antihistamine, making it particularly helpful for itchy skin.

3. Soothe Skin with Neem Cream

For external relief, a nourishing topical cream can help calm dryness and irritation.

A.Vogel’s Neem cream is a great option for soothing itchy skin. It can be applied:

  • Directly onto dry or irritated areas
  • Around the ears if they feel itchy
  • Anywhere on the body where discomfort occurs

Its moisturising and calming properties make it especially useful during times when skin feels more sensitive than usual.

Is This a Symptom You’re Experiencing?

Perimenopause itching can feel random, but it’s often linked to hydration and hormonal changes, but with the right support, it can improve.
